Harris Cares: Fairfield Team Supports CUMAC

Throughout 2016, A H Harris will be celebrating 100 years of service within their branches. As a way for associates to come together, we are going to set time aside so we may participate in community service. Community, by definition, is, “A feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.” At Harris, all associates come together to reach common goals for the better of the company. The strong teamwork we all share will focus towards giving back to causes important to each branch. This initiative is, Harris Cares!

This past weekend, members of the Fairfield team had the opportunity of volunteering at an organization in Paterson, NJ, CUMAC. CUMAC feeds over 40,000 families yearly in Passaic County, 1 in 3 being children, 1 in 6 disabled and 1 in 8 senior citizen. CUMAC also provides Job Training, abuse counseling and help with housing. Prior to giving 4 hours, Fairfield was able to raise $420 in cash and collect 163lbs in canned and dry foods to donate. With some of our members roots coming from Paterson, including but not only Our Division Vice President (Dennis Orozco) and Branch Manger (Jesus Flores), it was very important to the Fairfield crew to find a charity that helped their Local community. According to Jose Abreu of the Fairfield team, "I think I Speak for everyone who was able to attend, it was truly an honor to help such an organization. We spent our 4 hours painting, separating and bagging goods, reorganizing their thrift shop and warehouse and overall doing whatever we could. Thank you for pushing us to always Spread the Harris Pride!!"

UPDATE: Thank you note from Cumac to our team:

Hi Jose [and Harris team], I have never come back on a Monday to such rave reviews about a crew, you guys really wowed our staff. Thank you so much for all of your help this past weekend. The building looks absolutely incredible and I can't tell you how happy we were to have food ready to go out and even have our meeting space all set up for Monday's safety lesson. The food you brought and donations you made will have a huge impact on our work. We had long lines in our pantry today and friends like you make all the difference as we work to help everyone. I know Pedro, Javin and Adrian will be thrilled you want to come back - I was given special instructions to make sure we saw you all again. :) Thanks! Stephanie
