In part 47 of our 'Meet the Team' series we got to know more about Christina Thomas-Walker, a member of the Forming and Shoring Team at our Charlotte, NC location. Christina started as an estimating intern and has gone above and beyond. Let's hear it from Christina!
Hi Christina! Thank you for your time, what is your role at Harris?
I have recently moved over to the Forming and Shoring Division from the Estimating team as an FSD Technician in our Charlotte, NC location.
What lead you to a career with Harris?
I started off as an intern at the end of my sophomore year of college at Central Connecticut State University. We were required to complete an internship prior to graduation. I have loved it every day since and wanted to pursue life after graduation with Harris!
Very cool, we're glad you turned that internship into a career! What was your first job ever?
In middle school I was a paper girl (more like my brother was the paper boy and paid me $5 dollars a week to do HIS job for him), but my actual first job was a gymnastics coach at the gym I trained at.
Can you describe Harris in three words?
Yes! Family, Passion and Integrity
What is your biggest accomplishment at Harris so far?
My biggest accomplishment at Harris has been moving to a new position and location after finishing college.
How exciting and congratulations on your new role! What is something working at Harris has taught you?
Never ruin a good today by thinking about a bad yesterday. Every day is a new day to succeed!
So far, what has been your favorite memory at Harris?
Best memories at Harris have definitely been the Summits I have attended, as well as being a part of the Newington Branch with great coworkers for the two years that lead me to my career choice.
What does Harris Pride mean to you?
Harris pride to me means being a part of something that strives to go above and beyond at all times. You are never alone in time of need or celebrations. Harris pride keeps everyone with a “we can do it” attitude and proving that tough times don’t last but tough teams do. We are in this together.
Anything else you'd like to share about you?
I am a huge Kemba Walker fan (slightly a decision factor in picking the Charlotte area) but prior to moving to Charlotte I have never lived anywhere outside of CT, even for college. This has been probably the most spur-of-the-moment choices I have made, but it has also been the best decision. I also have had a passion for doing gymnastics since I could remember and love coaching that I continued down here at CGA (Charlotte Gymnastics Academy).
That's awesome! Thanks for chatting us with us, Christina! Good luck in Charlotte.
