Here we are at Part 54 of our 'Meet the Team' interview series. We love learning and sharing about our associates and their role with the organization. This week, we got the chance to speak with Gerardo Reyes, an Estimator for the SER (South East Region) based in Connecticut. Let's hear what he has to say!
Hi Gerardo! What is your role at Harris?
I am currently an estimator for the South East region, working out of our Newington branch in Connecticut. I am also one of about 3 people who manage the online chat on ahharris.com.
What lead you to a career with Harris?
I attended Central Connecticut State University; one of their requirements was an internship on our junior or senior year standing. I had multiple offers, but eventually I decided to join A.H. Harris and I'm very glad I did!
What was your first job ever?
My first job ever was actually working as a deckhand. I worked for Bloom Brother Shellfish during my high school years, until I joined A.H. Harris.
Wow! Thats something else, huh. Can you describe Harris in three words?
Easy: Pride, Passion, Family
What is your biggest accomplishment with us so far?
Since my job consists mostly of pre-bid, I believe getting my first of many purchase orders from a pre-bid was big accomplishment. In my role I often get the opportunity to make a first impression on prospect and new customers, which is pretty cool.
What is something working at Harris has taught you?
No matter the situation someone is always there to help you out, because we are better together.
So far, what has been your favorite memory at Harris?
I would have to say my first summit in Mystic, CT. I got to meet many new faces, and make friend for years to come.
What does Harris Pride mean to you?
Harris pride means being part of a family who is always there for you. Helping and encouraging each other and our customers in creating a brighter future.
Anything else you would like to share about you?
Yes, enjoy playing golf during the summer and snowboarding during the winter. I also enjoy hiking and running!
Awesome! Thanks for your time and everything you do around here, Gerardo. All the best for your carrer at Harris, we are glad to have you!
