(Fred, far right, & the rest of the team at the 2016 TCA Convention)
What is your role at Harris? Sales Manager for the GMA (Greater Metro Area Region) NJ/NYC.What lead you to a career with Harris? I was sold to A.H. Harris [laughs]! I was an account manager for 18 years at a company that Harris acquired in 2000. We had similar product offerings, a little more construction equipment rental and sales than Harris. As Harris does today, we serviced the Road and Bridge segment of the construction industry as well as Commercial and Residential construction.
What was your first job ever? I worked for a local engineering firm in their survey and layout division. Due to a weak economy and cut backs, I got my start in the supply business as a truck driver. I made deliveries to jobsites in NJ and NYC and I loved it - that’s how my sales career started, I called in a few orders from making deliveries and the salesman in me took over.
Describe Harris in three words: FAMILY - TEAM - GROWING.
What is your biggest accomplishment at Harris so far? Being one of the top three profit earning account managers in the company and earning my Harris Hall of Fame ring.
What is something working at Harris has taught you? It is rewarding to go above and beyond. Whether you are helping a fellow worker or a customer, the extra effort pays off many times over in a positive way.
So far, what has been your favorite memory at Harris? I have a few during my 17 years with Harris. Being named the company MVP certainly ranks high. Closing a $400,000.00 equipment sale for two Gomaco C-450 bridge deck finishers and a Gomaco Commander III slip form paver on the Atlantic City bypass tunnel and roadway. My most recent accomplishment was being promoted to Regional Sales Manager.
What does Harris Pride mean to you? Believing in my company, my co-workers, and our leadership. We give 110% to our customers and vendor partners, that’s why we go above and beyond!
Anything else about you? I am born and raised in NJ. Married to my college sweetheart Nancy for 42 years. We have two lovely daughters, Lisa and Pam. I played baseball in high school where I was selected a 1st team group 1 All-State pitcher. Recently my pitching arm came out of retirement to throw a perfect strike at our company summit to that dunked our CEO into the dunking tank !! YAY! Nowadays, my wife and I enjoy the OBX beaches, craft beer breweries, weekend travels, concerts at smaller venues and a round or two of golf. I am also a proud cancer survivor thanks to the support of many family and friends including my Harris family.
Thank you for your time & thanks for all that you do!
