Meet the team series part 14: Leadership Spotlight on David Calicchia

Episode XIV of our 'Meet the team' Leadership series. We want you to get to know our team. On Facebook we run an album called “Faces & Places of AH Harris” and we also feature snapshots of our employees and job sites on our Instagram account. But we want to give some insights into who our company leaders are, too! We share what their background is and include some ‘personal touch’ beyond the corporate resumes you find on LinkedIn. You may know today's featured associate from our YouTube channel - he was the guy who took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to a whole new level (well worth checking out). Not only one of the nicest guys around, he is also one of our most knowledgeable leaders we have in the region. Let's hear it from New York Region RVP David!

Morning David, hope all is well! What is your role with the company, what are you responsible for here at AH Harris?

I am the New York Region Vice President, which also includes Rockland County North, the Western portion of Vermont and all of Pennsylvania. I am responsible for providing a safe work environment, a positive and professional atmosphere for communication and associates growth, leadership and the overall profitability of my region.

How long have you been with the organization?

I started in 1985 in the Latham branch, in the position of Inside Sales. So, on May 20th, 2015, I will have been here for 30 years. Man, time flies when you're having fun!

Have you always worked in the construction sector or did you change industries during your career?

I graduated from college in May 1985 and at the same time I started my employment with AH Harris. So yes, I have always worked in the construction sector.

What does ‘Harris Pride’ mean to you?

Harris Pride means family. Every day I leave my family at home, to come and work with the rest of my family. Harris Pride also means to me a great company, great leadership, great associates, hard work, and integrity.

What is one thing you want our customers to know?

We are more than a distributor of construction building products. We are a business partner with our customers and our community. We are built on associates dedication and tenure, providing solutions for our customer's needs. We are soon closing in on a hundred years and AH Harris has been meeting the demands of the companies that service the construction industry. We combine the highest quality construction specialty products with the best professional service in the industry.

Do you have a piece of advice for current and/or prospect employees?

AH Harris has provided me with an environment to grow from Inside Sales, to Form Work & Design, to Account Manager, to Sales Manager, to Division Manager and now Regional Vice President, through hard work and dedication. For all our current associates or possible new hires, that opportunity for professional and personal growth remains the same and contributes to one of AH Harris’ greatest strengths as leaders in the construction distribution markets.

Anything else you would want to share today?

I’d like to thank our loyal customers, our business partnerships, our vendor relationships and our associates. As we navigate our future in the construction industry, I would like to think we find some time to keep it fresh and fun!

Who do you nominate for our next leadership spotlight?

I nominate my friend, my associate and my Sales Manager, Todd Brewer.
