Episode XIX of our 'Meet the Team' leadership spotlights. Today, I got the opportunity to interview Tad Spiller, nominated by Mike Griffin. Tad is the Account Manager at our Portland branch. On Facebook we run an album called “Faces & Places of AH Harris” and we also feature snapshots of our crew on Instagram. But we want to give some insights into who our company leaders are, what their background is and include some ‘personal touch’ that goes beyond what you would find on LinkedIn. Let’s hear it from Tad!
Good morning Tad, can you remind me and our audience what your role as Account Manager contains at AH Harris?
Good Morning! I cover southern and western Maine, and Northeastern New Hampshire. The largest metropolitan Area within my territory is the Greater Portland Maine area. Harris branches that I support are: Augusta, Maine, Portland Maine, Portsmouth NH and West Lebanon, NH.
How long have you been with the organization?
I've been a Harris Employee since 1983, however my relationship with Harris goes back to the early 70's. At that time I worked for Richmond Screw Anchor Co., a manufacturer of Concrete accessories. I loaded Harris Trucks, sometimes 3-4 per day, with Richmond accessories and enjoyed being a supportive part of the Harris team. In 79' I was transferred to Richmond’s Headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas under the guidance of Roger Vining, a former Harris salesman himself. I spent 4 years in sales with Richmond working the deep south until appropriately on Thanksgiving of 83' Mike Griffin asked if I'd like to move back to Maine. I've been on the Harris team ever since.
Seeing as you have been with Harris for over 30 years, what does “Harris Pride” mean to you?
When I think of "Harris Pride" I think of the great people that I'm associated with at Harris. I've had the very best in the industry to train, mentor, consult and plan with.
What is the one thing you want our customers to know?
At Harris we work together to accomplish our goals and treat our customers and each other with respect. Our common goal is to build trust and consistency for our customers through our products and services. “Yesterday’s value with Today's Technology."
You were nominated by Mike Griffin, who do you nominate for our next leadership spotlight?
How about a new employee to Harris? Jason Potter, Account Manager at our Bangor branch.
Great, I look forward to featuring him in our next blog. Thanks for your time and most importantly, thanks for all you do!
