Number XXVII of our ‘Meet the Team’ leadership spotlights. Today, I got the opportunity to interview Tom McCadden. Tom is the Account Manager of the Plainville branch and has been with the organization for 27 years. On Facebook we run an album called “Faces & Places of AH Harris” and we also feature snapshots of our crew on Instagram. But we want to give some insights into who our company leaders are, what their background is and include some ‘personal touch’ that goes beyond what you would find on LinkedIn. Let’s hear it from Tom!
What is your role at AH Harris?
I am a proud account manager.
How long have you been with the organization?
I started in 1987, and was here for about 3-1/2 years. I left to take a partnership position with one of our contractors, Poxy Crete . This company did not work out, and I took a position as a project manager for another company, JWH Construction. I was inadvertently laid off, Harris found out I was laid off, and I was asked to return. This hiatus lasted about a year and a half, I been back since 2/1992. All told I’ve been here 27 years and counting!
Have you always had a career in construction?
My dad ran a remodeling company, where I worked right through college. After college, I had a position as a tech in a robotics firm. I got laid off and started to look for a new position. I contacted a few management recruiters, and interviewed at AH Harris. Not knowing positions like this existed, I was asked to come in for a second interview. To my surprise, I ran into Ken Stevens, who was already employed at Harris. Kenny and I were friends in college, and he gave me the inside “scoop “. I have basically been with Harris since I got out of school.
What does “Harris Pride” mean to you?
Harris Pride to me is respecting our customers, our vendors and most importantly my fellow colleagues. I am proud to be a member of the Harris Team!
What is the one thing you want our customers to know?
We will provide them with the right product, or solution, in a prompt and professional manner.
What is your favorite memory at Harris?
Undoubtedly , my favorite memories revolve around the 4 gentlemen that got me to where I am today , Bob Shea , John Carmichael , John Gardino , and Paul Brown ( aka Brownie ) . Their support and funny antics made working for Harris a fun place to work!
That's amazing, a good team makes work more fun! Any last words you want to share with our audience?
Harris is great company, a quality organization, and most importantly, filled with integrity.
Who do you nominate for our next “Meet the Team” interview?
Mr. Scott Archer! He is one of the best back up support and inside salespeople we have!
I will reach out to Scott! Thank you so much for your time and thanks for all you do!
